Mitchell’s first Christmas!

He absolutely loved the bows on his presents. And I’m sure he loved the presents, too. But for the moment, he was more interested in the bows. Next year he’ll upgrade to being more interested in the box!

I wish I’d had as good of a Christmas as Mitchell did. Unfortunately, I was sick for it. I’ve been sick since last Monday with no end in sight. I was sick enough over Christmas that I couldn’t go to most of our family Christmases. But hopefully I’ll be able to make it up later. And I get to see the doctor about some antibiotics tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll start feeling much better soon.

In the meantime, PICTURES!

14 Weeks and So Much Christmas!

A very large Mitchell:

Mitchell is getting very conversational. Check out all the pictures of him making lots of faces while chatting. He’s so adorable! I’m not biased at all. There’s also a picture of him with Santa and our Christmas card.

Aunt Jackie, the picture in the playpen shows his usual stance while getting a diaper change: trying to pull your blanket onto himself. He loves the colors (I assume).

3. 3 Whole Months!

Mitchell is three whole months old!

Mitchell is still teething. I was sure hoping for some sort of miracle child who would stop teething after a week, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. Last night was his first case of sobbing like crazy because of it. I felt terrible because I didn’t know why he was crying, so I just walked around trying to soothe him for 10 minutes. Finally I put some orajel on his teeth and voila, no more crying. Poor guy had to deal with 10 minutes of inept mother before he got his relief.

So far I’ve been much better than I expected with the Christmas gifts. I think he only has five gifts under the tree so far. Of course, that just means that I’ve been giving him everything I buy instead of saving it, but oh well. He’s a baby. I can just take it all back on Christmas Eve.

Justin took the camera tonight and got some great pictures of one of my favorite Mitchell moments right now: the kiss. Whenever I go to kiss him, he opens his mouth really wide and lunges for my face. I’ve gotten pretty good at dodging the super slobbery mouth and getting the cheek, but every once in a while I get a mouthful of drool. Ah, baby drool. I also got a couple pictures of his open-mouth lunge. I assume it’s a teething thing, but a lot of times he’ll just randomly lunge forward with his mouth open. There doesn’t have to be anything in front of him. Sometimes he even screeches while he does it. It’s cute except when he does it toward my chest. Then it’s blackmail material! Haven’t gotten a picture of it quite yet though.

Mitchell is 12 weeks old today! How is this possible?!

Mitchell is teething in full force. On Friday we bought his first Sophie the Giraffe. So far he loves chewing on the legs, but he doesn’t quite have the coordination down to keep her in the right place for any long period. His mouth is too small for most of the other teethers I got. He’s being so good through it, though. I can tell his gums are really sore from how hard he’s trying to chew on things, but other than a little fuss, that’s really the only sign he’s shown. I got so lucky with this kid.

He’s doing so well going to work with me. He gets bored every once in a while and demands attention by squealing, but that’s really it. He’s coping with the lack of silence by just not sleeping. Today he slept for an hour over my lunch break, but that’s it. I love this age, though. He’s happy, he knows Justin and I and really shows it, but he’s still young enough to just conk out when he’s tired. I was walking through the grocery store tonight and he was awake, talking to a friend I had run into, and then the next second he was snoozing on my shoulder. Such an easy, fun age.

Mitchell tailgated for the first time last weekend! We tailgated for the KSU v. TX game and he was the hit of the party. Everyone loved him. He was so good, too! He hardly fussed at all. He napped twice (both times just on my shoulder) and fussed for about two minutes before each nap, but it wasn’t a loud fuss or anything, more of a whine.

Well, that’s all I can think of for now!
